Hunger

What is this hunger that’s within me,
Is it in you too?
And what is this threat that threatens to consume me,
Will it consume you too?

I have felt the wind ripple leaves and it ripples me as well
The sun and the trees dance in endless decadence
Thoughts filter down but are caught in the sieve of my throat
Swelling; sweltering
What is it that’s mine, truly mine?
Light filtering
Clouds curling
Lost at sea, in the great mystery.

What is this driving force that drives me,
Does it drive you too?
And what is this hunger that devours me?
